Former homicide detective Clint Hayes has his first client as a private investigator: a fragile beauty he isn’t sure he can trust. So where’s the body, the gun, the evidence? When it’s clear someone is trying to kill his vulnerable client, Clint appoints himself her protector, working overtime not to fall for her. But someone is dead set on preventing Natalie from ever regaining her memories—or making new ones with Clint . . .

The plot is captivating and the implications are chilling. Those are my first thoughts when it comes to Webb's latest release. Time and time again I found myself thinking 'could you just imagine.' The intimate manner in which this story was presented kept me coming back for more as I tried to unravel the unforgettable tale that Webb has woven. The characters that she developed were interesting and approachable without being common. I quite enjoyed the different ways in which they were developed, allowing me to get to know them through the story itself. Once again Webb has created a fast paced, chilling read full of romance and suspense. It is a fantastic weekend read! Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Debra Webb's latest, Dark Whispers is a Faces of Evil story. When Clint Hayes takes a job with his former boss in her new PI firm little does he know how his life will change. In walks Natalie Drummond, their first client. She suffered a traumatic brain injury two years ago and now she needs their help. This is a wonderful story full of suspense and intrigue with twists and turns and I thoroughly enjoyed going along for the ride. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense and intrigue. It's one of my top reads of 2016.

Clint Hayes, left his job as a homicide detective to work with his former boss, Jess Harris Burnett. Jess has decided to open her own private investigation service. Jess Harris Burnett, was a former FBI profiler and she was also Deputy Chief of major crimes. Jess Burnett and Buddy Corlew decided to open a private investigation agency together. Natalie Drummond, is an attorney, who suffered a traumatic brain injury. After her fall she has had laps in memory which makes her think she losing her mind or going crazy. Her brother and sister believe that she is hallucinating. That can some time happen with TBIs (head traumatic). Natalie, is a possible new client, and after Clint, listen to Natalie story he believes with all of his instinct that there is more than what he was told. The one thing that Clint is known is for his strong instinct and he is convinced that someone is trying to kill Natalie. He takes the case because Natalie, is in need of his protection and he would like to find out who and why this is being done to her. If you haven’t read the Faces of Evil series than it is a must read. I love that this is a spin-off series from the original Faces of Evil series. With every book of Debra Webb, books that I have read, she really knows how to keep you coming back for more. If you are looking for a book that has lots of suspense and romance. Than you have found it. Happy reading.
