About this ebook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • This ebook edition contains a special preview of Dean Koontz’s The Silent Corner.

Past midnight, Chyna Shepard, twenty-six, gazes out a moonlit window, unable to sleep on her first night in the Napa Valley home of her best friend’s family. Instinct proves reliable. A murderous sociopath, Edgler Foreman Vess, has entered the house, intent on killing everyone inside. A self-proclaimed “homicidal adventurer,” Vess lives only to satisfy all appetites as they arise, to immerse himself in sensation, to live without fear, remorse, or limits, to live with intensity. Chyna is trapped in his deadly orbit.

Chyna is a survivor, toughened by a lifelong struggle for safety and self-respect. Now she will be tested as never before. At first her sole aim is to get out alive—until, by chance, she learns the identity of Vess’s next intended victim, a faraway innocent only she can save. Driven by a newly discovered thirst for meaning beyond mere self-preservation, Chyna musters every inner resource she has to save an endangered girl . . . as moment by moment, the terrifying threat of Edgler Foreman Vess intensifies.

This is my favorite book EVER! My mom used to read same genre of books as me & when she finished (depending on if she thought I would like it) she would pass it on to me. Well she only made it a few chapters & said it was too scary for her, well i knew I had to try. OMG was she ever right, it grabs u in 1st chapter & doesn't let u go. It's like your there w/her feeling every emotion. I've read it several times since then & it has remained my "FAVORITE BOOK EVER" Thank you, Dean Koontz

This is the poster child for not judging a book by its cover, all of the cover art i have seen for it is horrible, but the book stands out as one of my favorites. It is very memorable, well over two years after i first read it it's still reasonably fresh in my mind, while i can barely remember many others i read in that time period. It focuses almost solely on two characters, and you to know them both very well. It's one of the few books that still had me wondering how it would end up until it happened.

I read this book years ago, n then again, n again, Ive always loved Dean Koontz, he had me since LIGHTNING, luv his writing style, how he describes everything in such creative fashion, especially the ghost looking elk in this book, it felt like I could reach out and touch them, n the heroine is so kick ass, if I were ever kidnapped, I want HER to rescue me.
