Fantastic read! Short stories are detailed though, like all of McCullough's works, easy to read. If nothing else, this book will inspire you to read many more great books (see chapter 16: Recommended Itinerary).

What an enjoyable book. Many of the essays were topics I would never have read, but he made them interesting. Others I couldn't get enough of and will seek out more books on that topic. I love his writing style and in several instances enjoyed the language as much as the topic.

David McCullough (1933–2022) twice received the Pulitzer Prize, for Truman and John Adams, and twice received the National Book Award, for The Path Between the Seas and Mornings on Horseback.
