About this ebook

In this gripping mystery, an FBI Agent’s search for her sister clashes with a military investigator's high-stakes case, leading them both deep into a global conspiracy—from which neither of them will escape unscathed. For many long years, Atlee Pine was tormented by uncertainty after her twin sister, Mercy, was abducted at the age of six and never seen again. Now, just as Atlee is pressured to end her investigation into Mercy's disappearance, she finally gets her most promising breakthrough yet: the identity of her sister's kidnapper, Ito Vincenzo.

With time running out, Atlee and her assistant Carol Blum race to Vincenzo's last known location in Trenton, New Jersey—and unknowingly stumble straight into John Puller's case, blowing his arrest during a drug ring investigation involving a military installation.

Stunningly, Pine and Puller's joint investigation uncovers a connection between Vincenzo's family and a breathtaking scheme that strikes at the very heart of global democracy. Peeling back the layers of deceit, lies and cover-ups, Atlee finally discovers the truth about what happened to Mercy. And that truth will shock Pine to her very core.

Wow! Another winner! There is non-stop action from the very beginning until the very last page. The Pine/Puller combination is phenomenal as they get drawn into an investigation that neither anticipated. I loved both characters and was totally immersed in their story, turning pages just as quickly as possible to see what happened next. If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. The author is a master at his craft and is a must read for any fiction lover. Put this one at the top of your TBR list.

I’ve been reading the Atlee Pine series from the beginning and I’m so drawn to the mystery surrounding her sister and every book I keep wondering if this is when we get find out what happened. I don’t want to spoil it for you but her sister’s mystery is part of the story. Yay! In this installment there is a crossover when FBI agent Atlee Pine teams up with John Pullover, Army CID. She stumbles across his investigation as she looks into a lead on what happened with her sister. If you aren’t familiar with the series, Atlee is a twin and her sister was abducted when she was six years old. The whereabouts of her sister is still unknown and the abduction understandingly has shaped her life. Atlee and Pullover team up for a wild ride looking into a global crisis. And while that part of the story is fast paced with twists and turns, it was Atlee’s personal journey about her sister that I found most interesting. Baldacci is good at creating complex characters.

I'm a huge Baldacci fan and was excited to dive into the Atlee Pine series. This one brings Pine a step closer to finding her sister, with help of John Puller (yeah, that guy!)and her assistant, Carol Blum. I love the character Carol and the interaction between her and Atlee is great. Start this series in the beginning, and you're in for a thrilling story-fest.
