About the author

Dave Gibbons has worked in comics since 1973. Cutting his teeth on underground comics and fanzines, he became a frequent contributor to the UK anthology magazine 2000 AD, illustrating such features as Harlem Heroes, Dan Dare and Rogue Trooper (which he co-created), as well providing work to Doctor Who Magazine. In 1982 he landed an assignment on GREEN LANTERN, beginning his long association with DC Comics. Since then he has both drawn and written many of their major characters, including Superman and Batman. In 1986 Gibbons and writer Alan Moore co-created the landmark series WATCHMEN, which is widely acknowledged to be one of the greatest graphic narratives ever published. Since then, he has collaborated with a wide variety of writers and artists, including Frank Miller (Give Me Liberty, Martha Washington Goes to War), Garth Ennis (WAR STORY: SCREAMING EAGLES) and Geoff Johns (GREEN LANTERN CORPS: RECHARGE), and in 2005 his Vertigo graphic novel THE ORIGINALS won the Eisner Award for Best New Graphic Album.
