I really enjoyed the series, but the last book seemed more hurried and less thoughtful. There were several sub-story lines that weren't wrapped up at all, like Isolde. What is her status now? Civilization is very open ended at the end of the story, which may be okay, but it felt really anticlimactic.

I am so happy to have read this series. I was getting disillusioned by the 'horrible third book' syndrome I've been seeing lately. You know, where the third book just ignores the past plots, and characters, and rushes into some pointless climax of it was all just aliens, or scientists, or in our head. But this series takes the brutal acceptance that if total world destruction happens there are no winners and very few survivors, but the author also helps me want to be a survivor and I hope a 'good' one...

One of the most amazing series I have ever read! It was so hard to put down and when I did I couldn't help but think about it in the back of my mind until I was able to pick it back up again.
