About this ebook

Going home wasn’t part of his plan …

Agreeing to travel home to Maine to hunt down Katch, a K9 dog the system had lost track of, wasn’t an easy decision for Zane. It meant facing his drunk of a father, his cold older brother and, worst of all, Holly, his kid brother’s widow—who used to be his girlfriend.

Finding Katch looked to be the easiest part of this dysfunctional homecoming. Only he wasn’t the only one hunting Katch.

Holly has been through a whirlwind of emotions in the last few years. But the good thing in all of this was the hope that Zane would finally come home again. They had a history to clear up and a future to forge … she hoped.

A call for help brings the injured shepherd to Holly’s doorstep, plus a hunter looking to finish what he started. All thoughts of a future with Zane are threatened now and forever as the hunter decides two-legged prey are just as good as four-legged ones.

3.5-Stars This is book 3 in the K-9 Files series and it features Zane and Holly. My favorite part of this entire book was a small snippet of conversation between them, “Golden Girl,” he whispered. “What was your favorite hobby growing up?” ...she whispered “Riding.” “Then ride beautiful one. Just ride.” *sigh* The bare bones story line was absolutely amazing but there was WAY too much unnecessary filler story. His family is part of the unnecessary filler story and was so damn depressing it made me angry for him. I didn’t feel any happiness until the last 15% of the book. In my opinion, this book should have been much shorter. In spite of everything, I’m still looking forward to book 4.

3.5 Stars This is the third book in the K9 Files series. This book took me a little bit to get into. I wasn't a huge fan of the characters so it took me a bit to get invested into their story. I did get invested in Ketch. That poor dog. There are some nasty people out there. Zane is going back home to work on a mission to make sure Fetch is having the best life. Zane isn't going to be too happy when he finds out what's been going on. Zane's homecoming is everything, but wanted. He dreads it, but the fate Fetch is important. It irks me when people just say they're just animals no they're family. There are a few characters that have the they're just animals mentality. Not a fan of the kinds of people for sure. I can tell you the set up for the next book has me very intrigued.

Doesn't have the usual depth of relationships nor attractiveness of characters that I have found in most of Dale Mayers books. Has a viable storyline, but the development of it needs a bit of an overhaul.
