About this ebook

With his surgery postponed, Harper can finally take on a War Dog case to help out Kat and Badger. Harper knows it is short-term, a fill-his-time thing. Considering his stage of life, that is perfect. Finding out he needs to find two dogs is a surprise, but he doesn’t expect to track one dog in order to keep another alive.

As Saffron works to keep Beauty alive, she knows how important it is to find Beauty’s bonded partner, Beast. The pair of dogs had come to Saffron for medical treatment. Beast had thereafter been released, supposedly taken to a huge training facility, while Beauty hadn’t been healthy enough to leave Saffron’s care. Finding Harper on Beast’s trail is both a relief and a distraction. Saffron can’t ignore the dynamic Harper, even as injured and as scarred as he is. Not to mention the work he’s doing is so close to her own.

As Harper gets closer to Beast’s location, it becomes obvious that someone wants to make sure the War Dog doesn’t reach his destination. But why? And how far would this person go to take down the dog?

I really enjoy this series that revolves around rescuing war dogs and of course there's romance that sweeten up everything. And in this book I love the sweet romance part, love the banter between Harper and Saffron, they're just perfect for each other, for the suspense mystery part it's a solid one, I enjoyed it. One thing that a bit let down was the K9 story is not as much as I expected it to be. Overall, this one is a solid read, I love the romance part and wished more for Beauty and Beast.

3.5 stars I enjoy this series involving the rescue of war dogs. There is romance, a connection between the hero and heroine that sweetens things up. The romance part grows whilst both Harper and Saffron are apart. The two banter, she shows her concern for him, and people open up to him because he is himself. They connect and the connection grows for them both from the get go. Besides the romantic aspect there is suspense and mystery which we learn about as the plot progresses and that is solid. There may be writers freedom with some of the things Saffron as a vet did in order to assist Harper with his search for the injured war dog, Beauty, but I don't believe it should affect your thoughts on the actual story objective, that of reuniting Beauty with Beast and connecting Harper with Saffron. Saffron's sister Sandy plays a significant part in a number of chapters and has her own story to tell. Maybe it needs to be told at some point, but in this story she was just being a thorn in Saffron's life as she traveled the path to finding her happy ever after. An enjoyable read.

This story is so emotional and inspirational. Harper is a seriously injured war hero who is disfigured in a way people react badly to him and he’s in pain from poor prosthetics. He needs a mission and searching for a War Dog will get his mind off his troubles. Saffron, a Veterinarian, has custody of a very sick War Dog she named Beast. His bonded mate, Beauty, is missing and it’s killing him. She is missing and is in great danger. WONDERFUL CHARACTORS! Linda

About the author

Dale Mayer is a USA Today bestselling author who writes for the young, the old and those in-between. Some of her books are hot, some are sweet. Some will keep you up at night with a light on to keep the boogie man away and some you’ll want to cuddle close. She’s long given up on trying to fit a specific genre. Instead she honors the stories that come to her – and some of them are crazy, break all the rules and cross multiple genres! And that’s okay too. There is one guarantee with each book – it will be a great read – each and every time.
