The circle of time freezes for that chunk of people. The sky was obscured before the declarence of emergency crisis. Politicians were content with their hidden outlaw powers .

47 साली तेरा वर्षांच्या छोट्या भैरप्पानं स्वातंत्र्यपूर्व काळात मोठ्या उत्साहानं प्रभातफेऱ्यांमध्ये भाग घेणं, किरकोळ भाषणं ठोकणं, ट्रकमध्ये चढून दारूच्या पिंपांना भोकं पाडणं वगैरे उपद्व्याप करून पोलिसांचा मार सुद्धा खाल्ला होता. गांधीजी-नेहरू-बोस-चेंगलराय रेड्डी यांचा घसा खरवडून जयजयकार केला होता आणि स्वतंत्र भारताविषयी स्वप्नंही पाहिली होती.
पण स्वतंत्र भारताची 47 सालानंतरची वाटचाल पाहताना भैरप्पांचं मत दिवसेंदिवस विषण्ण होत होतं. कला क्षेत्र असो, शिक्षण क्षेत्र असो, धर्माचरण असो, मानवी नातेसंबंध असोत, तरुणांच्या बदललेल्या महत्त्वाकांक्षा, पैशांचा विनियोग करण्यासंबंधीचा बेछूटपणा, नैतिक जबाबदाऱ्या पार पाडण्याविषयीची बेफिकिरी, स्वार्थीपणा; तरीही काही प्रमाणात या सर्वांवर मात करून काही जण आदर्श शिक्षण देण्यासाठी सरकारची मदत न घेता तळागाळातील मुलांना हाताशी धरून करत असलेली धडपड, स्त्रिया, तरुण यांच्या स्वातंत्र्याच्या, सक्षमRate this ebook
