About this ebook

Tormented by the knowledge that his father died thinking the worst of him, Colt Hall never meant to come home to Chance Creek. But with his brothers banding together to rebuild the family’s old ranch, he’s finding it hard to stay away. In accordance with the conditions for them to inherit the spread, Colt must soon marry. Too bad the only woman he wants is Heather Ward, the girl he walked away from years ago without saying good-bye.

Heather hid a secret for twelve long years, but when the Halls moved back to town it was only a matter of time before the truth came out. Now everyone but Colt knows he has a son. She’ll get one chance to convince Colt to forgive her—and become the father Richard has always longed for. If she answers Colt’s online ad for a temporary wife, will he fall in love with her before he learns the truth?

Colt knows it’s crazy to try to find a wife through an internet ad, and it’s even crazier to fall for a stranger who wants far more than a temporary marriage, but Helena Warner reminds him so much of Heather, he begins to wonder if the two might be the same woman. Heather can’t believe she’s using a fake name to seduce the father of her own child, but is it possible Colt might know more about her true identity than he’s letting on?

Once all the lies and secrets are stripped bare, Colt and Heather must answer the ultimate question: can a love interrupted ever be renewed?

I love these books about email order brides. The series starts with 4 brothers needing to get married within a year in order to get ownership of their childhood ranch. One of them not only needed to marry but also have a child within a year. The conditions were set by their Aunt Heloise who also said they had to stock the ranch with cattle. These odd stipulations came about because the ranch was passed on to their Uncle Zeke after their father died when they were teenagers. When Zeke passed away, the ranch went to his wife, Heloise. The boys - now men - are all in different parts of the military and close to their discharge dates when they find out about their aunt's conditions for giving them the ranch. Since they never had time to meet women in the military, the oldest, Mason, placed a wives wanted ad on the Internet. This story in about Colt who is in the Air Force and going home soon. He knew his time to find a bride was dwindling so he put his own ad online for a fake wife for 6 months. After that she could leave but he would have met the condition to get the ranch so all would be good. Colt only had one woman he wanted and that was a woman from his past, Heather Ward. Heather had been his brother, Austin's girlfriend but when they broke up Colt asked her out. They slept together when he was 16 but because of his guilty feelings about many things he left home the next day and joined the Air Force. Heather answered Colt's ad using a fake name because she didn't think he would respond if he knew it was her. She had never stopped loving him and hoped he would reply. She knew he would be back in Chance Creek soon and didn't know how to tell him he was a father. Heather is a strong, independent woman who raised her son on her own. I was surprised at how forgiving she was of Colt leaving her without a word. Colt was a good man who made mistakes in his youth. And was about to make another one by hiring a fake wife. What a surprise when a fake fiancee showed up and Aunt Heloise met her. I can't say I liked Aunt Heloise and her condition for the men to get the ranch. I highly recommend this book but want to say it's the last book in this series so don't read it first. Actually, reading them in order is best.

Wow...After reading the first book in this series, I knew I would love the other books by this author. But I have to say this is a book that made me cry. Trying to imagine the trials Heather and Colt were dealing with. Cora's writing skills made it so real for me. Loved this series and look forward to more books by this author.

I absolutely loved this book and it kept me from putting the book down because I couldn't wait to see what happened next with Colt and Heather. But each book is better than the last one was and it had a lot of twist and turn in this book but I still can't wait to read the other books that goes with this series.
