About this ebook

First published anonymously in 1823—and later attributed to Clemente C. Moore—The Night Before Christmas is arguably one of the most famous and cherished Christmas poems of all time. Moore’s depiction of St. Nicholas played a significant role in our modern conception of Santa Claus. It is, and always has been, the quintessential holiday tale.

I enjoyed this. A good read even though I'm a Mr Humbug. A note to the people who moan about the credit card request. Those complaints are not book reviews! The credit card request is one of the T&cs I should image. If you don't want to comply then just go elsewhere for you freebies. I have some 40 books from here about 20 that I've paid for and the rest... guess what... All free.

Sprinkled With Doubt! This is the first time I have read the story to my grandchildren. And lo and behold, they want to know what happened to Rudolph? I had to tell them that Rudolph wasn't in this story, that he came much later. But they already know that parents and grandparents are Saint Nick. Other people that give them gifts are also Saint Nicks. I read them this story because I wanted them to imagine, and think about the magic of old Christmas. The next question was, "What about Mrs. Claus?" They assigned that character to their mother. I wanted them to use their imagination and think about who they are and how, with a little thought, they are the magic in Christmas. We're off to a good start, I think.

There's no illustrations but it's a copy of my favorite Christmas story that I can now share with my son. I can't wait to read it to him on Christmas eve!
