About this ebook

On the day she was abducted, Annie O'Sullivan, a thirty-two year old realtor, had three goals—sell a house, forget about a recent argument with her mother, and be on time for dinner with her ever- patient boyfriend.

The open house is slow, but when her last visitor pulls up in a van as she's about to leave, Annie thinks it just might be her lucky day after all. Interwoven with the story of the year Annie spent as the captive of psychopath in a remote mountain cabin, which unfolds through sessions with her psychiatrist, is a second narrative recounting events following her escape—her struggle to piece her shattered life back together and the ongoing police investigation into the identity of her captor.

The truth doesn't always set you free.

Chevy Stevens's Still Missing is that rare debut find--a shocking, visceral, brutal and beautifully crafted debut novel.

What continues to come to mind about this book is the extraordinary pacing; it does not allow you to stop reading. Just as you sense a good breaking point is near, the author throws in a twist, surprise or revelation that makes you want to know more. The focus of the story is Annie, average young women who is abducted and held captive. The story is told through her voice as she talks to her psychiatrist. There are two threads that eventually converge. Though flashbacks, Annie reveals the events and circumstances of her abduction, the other thread shows the present day and the emotional scars she carries. Her survival is not a secret. What defines this book is her story; it’s haunting, emotional and artfully crafted. This is an excellent choice for a book club that enjoys mysteries or anyone who likes a story with emotional pull. The descriptions of rape and sexual perversion in this book are graphic, not for the faint of heart or young reader. Wonderful debut novel.

English: This was my first book of the author and I enjoyed it so much. It told the story in a different way that I hadn't seen. It was a psychological story of a abducted woman who was told in a way that I felt happiness, hate, anger and helplessness throughout the read. all of the things at the end complement each other and it was really psychological thriller story. as I liked the story, I will definitely read the author's book and she is among my favorite authors.

Great first novel for Chevy! Good job. Well written, personal and intense. Would love to see the movie. I recommend this book. Its an easy read, holds onto you and leaves you wondering what you would do. A couple of surprises too. Hey Chevy...how about a sequel?

About the author

Chevy Stevens is the author of Never Knowing. Before becoming a writer, she worked as a realtor. When she held open houses, she had a lot of time waiting by herself between potential buyers, and Stevens would spend this time scaring herself with all the things that could happen to her. The most terrifying scenario she thought up became the story behind Still Missing. Stevens grew up on a ranch on Vancouver Island, and she still calls the island home. When she's not writing, she's hiking with her husband and her dog in the local mountains.
