I usually do pretty well at remembering where I’m at in the larger plot arc within a series. With a few clues from the author in a new release, I can easily recall what happened in the last book, who the big bad was, etc. Not so with Eternal Mourning. For some reason, it felt like I was very unceremoniously dumped into the Talon Pack world here. Essentially, before picking up this book I recommend rereading, skimming, or at least reading your review for Destiny Disgraced. Even with the little hiccup of me not tracking the villain or remembering anything about Mitchell and Dawn in the last book, I really enjoyed Eternal Mourning. Walker has been one of my very favorite Talons from the start of this series, and his calm, hopeful presence really shined in this book. Aimee was the yin to Walker’s yang, bringing him out of his shell a bit more and forcing him to deal with unanticipated medical circumstances (which as the pack’s Healer drove Walker crazy). Aimee and Walker’s mating did seem a bit rushed at times, but the situation warranted their quick love story and, honestly, it suited them. The moon goddess blessed the Talons in plentiful ways and I loved that once Walker found the mate that he’d be praying to the moon goddess for he dove in whole-heartedly. Aimee never stood a chance once the Healer determined he wanted to explore their blossoming feelings. 4 stars for this romance that gave me ALL the feels!

Another great installment of Carrie Ann Ryan's Talon Pack series! In Eternal Mourning, we're swept along on Walker and Aimee's journey. Walker is a healer, it's not just is role in the pack or job, it's in his soul and is a calling. Unlike others in his pack, Walker can't wait to find his mate. He's seen the toll the changes to the mating bonds have taken on his pack, and mourns for the potential losses of not finding their mates. Walker is determined to find a solution. What's more, he's vowed to find cure for Aimee. Aimee knows her time is short. She's done her best to accept no one can help her. It's all she's ever known in her life. Once something starts to go her way, boom another roadblock or disaster takes what little she's managed to pull together away. She doesn't want to be a burden on anyone else, so she's carried all on her own. Walker and Aimee are thrust together, and Walker knows he has to find a way to save her. He wants to find his mate, but he's second guesses himself faced with the uncertainty of being wrong if it's not really Aimee. I loved Aimee's strength and insights throughout the journey. She acknowledges that they're doing things backwards. She gets that while the circumstances dictate the pace of their journey, her choices haven't been taken away, because she gets that should end up at the same place. Where they end up though, that's the twist. Ryan does a great job of keeping you on your toes. Just when you think you what's going to happen next, she finds a curve ball to throw at you! Eternal Mourning has lots of twists and turns, you're not going to want to miss!

This is my first paranormal book by this author although I have read several contemporary books. The author did a good job of providing the background needed to get a feel for this world. The characters are real and enjoyable. This is a good book.
