This is a new series by Carrie Ann Ryan, but it takes place in the Montgomery Ink world, which is a good way to start. The Montgomery's are such wonderful characters and I found myself curious about the new in-laws. This is an in-law series. We met Violet in Fallen Ink, book 1 of Montgomery Ink, Colorado Springs. She's Adrienne Montgomery's sister in law, Mace's sister. This series, and this book, in particular, comes with disclaimers and warnings of triggers. I admit that if it were written by anyone else, I might not have read it. It's the Fractured Connection series and it deals with a group of people, a group of friends, that come back together because of the death of one of them. Violet is dealing with a lot. Allison was her best friend and she committed suicide. She deals with the familiar feelings: what did I miss? I should have done more. And on top of it, at Allison's funeral and burial, she comes face to face with her lost love, the one that walked away. Cameron had a rough upbringing and he left town, leaving his new life and family/friends behind. He had a good reason, but he didn't bother to tell Violet. Now Cameron is back in town to try to keep his adoptive father's brewery and bar operating after his death. He's dealing with all he's left behind, including Violet and his adoptive brothers, none of whom took his departure well. And he returned with a new biological half brother that his adoptive brothers didn't know about. With so much going on in their lives, they are still drawn to each other. Violet doesn't want to be. She was hurt when he left. This is a sweet story of them renewing their friendship and then their love for each other against the backdrop of chaos. It had me questioning a lot. I've, fortunately, not had to deal with the suicide of a close friend, so cannot imagine what Violet might be feeling. She felt so much guilt, I didn't know how she was going to give Cameron another chance. And Cameron was dealing with his own guilt and anger towards his brothers. There were so many emotions flying over the pages of this book. My heart and mind were so full. This was a powerful story, and it was dealt with beautifully by the author. A very well earned HEA for the two of them. And as usual, we meet more characters in their journey that we want to learn more about. The rest of this series is about the others in their circle of friends and I can't wait to read it.

The beginning of book is absolutely heartbreaking! There is so much emotion spilling out all over everywhere, I just couldn't contain myself. I think I cried through the first third of the book. There was so much hurt, so much anger, and so many unresolved feelings, I could literally feel it myself. This had to be the most emotional book that I've read this year. I really feel like it broke me apart, before putting me back together. Violet just lost one of her best friends, with no explanations. On top of the emotions she is dealing with from that, the ex that broke her heart is back in town. She built her life back after he left her behind, but she doesn't know if she will ever be able to forgive his desertion. Cameron's life has been one disaster after another. His unstable mother lost him and his twin to the foster care system, and then they were separated. After eventually being reunited and adopted, his mother once again turns his life upside down, causing him to loose his family and the girl who holds his heart. When he returns home to Denver, intending to save his family's business, they are thrown together, and old feelings rise to the surface. This book was so emotional, I don't think I will ever forget the way it made me feel. It's an amazing story, that brings out a true response from the reader. I can honestly say, my heart will never be the same after reading this book. If you love a book that hits you in the feelings (like I do!) this is one that you will definitely enjoy. But have the tissues handy, because you will definitely need them!

Book one Breaking Without You in Fractured Connections Series by Carrie Ann Ryan This book starts with all the Knights sisters and Connolly’s brothers attending there friends Alison funeral after she committed suicide without a note saying why. Cameron is an adopted Connolly like his twin brother Aiden and other adopted brother Brandon but after his adoptive mum and dad died and his birth mother called begging for help he discovers another brother called Dillion how now only 18. Cameron tried to call his brothers to say they had a younger brother but non of his brothers answered his calls so his stopped calling so a lot of time and distance caused a massive friction between everyone. Violet is Mace’s sister from Fallen Ink (Montgomery Ink Colorado Springs Series) This book starts with Violets Harmony and Sienna attending there bff funeral and meeting up with the Connolly’s especially Cameron Violet’s ex. There’s massive backstory and a lot of history between most of the characters but mostly Violet and Cameron and how they broke up but also how they develop their new relationship and not repeat old mistakes. I really loved that this was all about relationships between brothers sisters friends and parents not too much drama and a great second chase story.
