“Chilling.” – Anderson Cooper
“Jaw-dropping.” – John Berman
“Shocking.” – John Heilemann
“Explosive.” – Hallie Jackson
“Blockbuster new reporting.” – Nicolle Wallace
“Bracing new revelations.” – Brian Williams
“Bombshell reporting.” – David Muir

The true story of what took place in Donald Trump’s White House during a disastrous 2020 has never before been told in full. What was really going on around the president, as the government failed to contain the coronavirus and over half a million Americans perished? Who was influencing Trump after he refused to concede an election he had clearly lost and spread lies about election fraud? To answer these questions, Phil Rucker and Carol Leonnig reveal a dysfunctional and bumbling presidency’s inner workings in unprecedented, stunning detail.

Focused on Trump and the key players around him—the doctors, generals, senior advisers, and Trump family members— Rucker and Leonnig provide a forensic account of the most devastating year in a presidency like no other. Their sources were in the room as time and time again Trump put his personal gain ahead of the good of the country. These witnesses to history tell the story of him longing to deploy the military to the streets of American cities to crush the protest movement in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, all to bolster his image of strength ahead of the election. These sources saw firsthand his refusal to take the threat of the coronavirus seriously—even to the point of allowing himself and those around him to be infected. This is a story of a nation sabotaged—economically, medically, and politically—by its own leader, culminating with a groundbreaking, minute-by-minute account of  exactly what went on in the Capitol building on January 6, as Trump’s supporters so easily breached the most sacred halls of American democracy, and how the president reacted. With unparalleled access, Rucker and Leonnig explain and expose exactly who enabled—and who foiled—Trump as he sought desperately to cling to power.

A classic and heart-racing work of investigative reporting, this book is destined to be read and studied by citizens and historians alike for decades to come.

Holy hell it seems everything that happens under a president is his fault. I swear if the author got skin cancer in 2020 it's not the sun's fault it's trump for allowing the sun to be out so much. First off 19 people died in the riots after Floyd's death. 19 people. Not to mention billions in damages done to hundred of cities. 75% of the population wanted trump to do something to stop the madness. The coronavirus is actually more mild in the USA then other countries. "Oh but we got 34m cases and 600k deaths" we also have a higher survivability rate then the world average, and our death rate per Capita is far below the rest of the world as well. We have 330 million people in the country, our numbers are gonna be high people, btw the vaccine would still be in production if trump didn't help bolster productions. And to anyone who thinks trump killed the economy needs a new pre-school education. What killed the economy was massive shut downs by state governors, massive lay offs and panic.

It's sad to see other reviews saying it was such a terrible book, when it's obvious the review was written by a Trump fan. When reading a book about someone, the reader really needs to look at it from all sides, OBJECTIVELY... That being said, I feel the book was written w/ several different perspectives from several different people from both sides of "Trump's fan base". I recommend reading this book. But if you are a Trump "believer", be prepared to be unhappy. It is what it is & honestly, we are better off WITHOUT a man in charge that only thinks of how HE is perceived by others, not what this country or IT'S CITIZENS need. I don't personally like Trump, but I also don't think this book was written just to make him look bad. He did that all by himself. Look at the facts on various videos & his social media stints. I mean, name calling? Is he still in grade school? That right there, says it all... 🤪🤯🤥 There are books written just to make Trump look bad, but this isn't one of them.

These are lies ... Trump really calmed the Middle East. Destroyed the terrorist in the true sense. He dealt with threats decisively, not with a view to generating revenue. Trump moved the US economy in the right direction, the first reason being the coronavirus of China's war with Trump's America. Trump literally brought peace and tranquility to the world. Those who voted for Biden can now enjoy the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan despite years of spending. From the oppression of the mullahs, from the crushing of America under the feet of China and Europe and radical Islamists
