About this ebook

Note: This novella is included in Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection, now available in print, ebook, and audiobook from Tor (US/Canada) and Gollancz (UK/Commonwealth).

Mistborn: Secret History is a companion story to the original Mistborn Trilogy.

As such, it contains huge spoilers for the books Mistborn (The Final Empire), The Well of Ascension, and The Hero of Ages. It also contains very minor spoilers for the book The Bands of Mourning.

Mistborn: Secret History builds upon the characterization, events, and worldbuilding of the original trilogy. Reading it without that background will be a confusing process at best.

In short, this isn’t the place to start your journey into Mistborn. (Though if you have read the trilogy—but it has been a while—you should be just fine, so long as you remember the characters and the general plot of the books.)

Saying anything more here risks revealing too much. Even knowledge of this story’s existence is, in a way, a spoiler.

There’s always another secret.

Definitely not my favorite of the series. Sort of like doing homework so that I can be prepared for the rest of the exciting story that comes later. There are a couple of fun character moments but not as many as in other books by Brandon. I don't regret reading it but I kept feeling like I want this book to end so I can read the next one. Really not much happens in this book aside from a verbal exploration into theology. Which I am sure will be important back story for future novels.

has an awful lot of "pertinent exposition" (read as; boring stretches)... normally, I can read these without going back to the source material and just sort of Bob along recalling the material as I go. But not this time. I'll be going back to the Wax & Wayne series as soon as I'm done writing this.

To be honest. I wished to not have read this. It makes the whole story of mistborn less real to me. The personality of kelsier became to much to be believable and it sadly changed my opinion of the series.
