Laura Frost continues to struggle with keeping her gift of foresight a secret from those closest to her as she searches for the killer of twins in Milwaukee. Meanwhile, her partner, Nate Lavoie, is closing the door on their friendship and possibly their partnership if she does not confide in him. She is facing an approaching court date over custody of her daughter. She does not know who has taken guardianship of Governor Fallow’s daughter, Amy, or if she is safe. All of these issues are occurring while she maintains her tentative grasp on sobriety. Laura Frost is a compelling character. I enjoy these stories.

Laura and Nate have always worked well together, however, her denial in telling him how she knows things will happen or how she knows who is the culprit is driving them apart. After her desperate call for him to help to save the little girl from her father's harm, their relationship has reached a standstill, one she knows will only change if she tells him all about her visions, even though, she is not clear how they really come to her. The way the story is written, the suspense, and the angst to find the criminal perpetrator, just puts the reader at the edge, and once you start reading you do not want to stop. I downloaded a free copy of this book through BookFunnel and this is my honest opinion.

Full of action and suspense, this Blake Pierce novel is about characters we care about very quickly. This is definitely a book to read without putting it down, once you start. The plot is full of twists and turns. Despite clues along the way, the ending still is a surprise. Blake can conjure up images of complex people we would never expect to meet. But they are fully developed, and we become deeply concerned for their welfare very quickly.I am glad there are more books already in this series, and more to come. This novel is perfectly fine read as a stand-alone novel. But I very much want to spend more time with these msin characters,
