About this ebook

"Graham's ideas inspired the investment community for nearly a century."--Smart Money

"Graham's method of investing is as relevant today as it was when he first espoused it during the Roaring Twenties."--Investor's Business Daily

Benjamin Graham's revolutionary theories have influenced and inspired investors for nearly 70 years. First published in 1934, his Security Analysis is still considered to be the value investing bible for investors of every ilk. Yet, it is the second edition of that book, published in 1940 and long since out of print, that many experts--including Graham protégé Warren Buffet--consider to be the definitive edition. This facsimile reproduction of that seminal work makes available to investors, once again, the original thinking of "this century's (and perhaps history's) most important thinker on applied portfolio investment."

I don't remember where I read Buffett make the claim about the Intelligent Investor (what's often thought of as the summary of this books' most important ideas), that its material will either resonate with you instantly, and if it doesn't, then it never will. And that's what this book is and how you feel when you read it. It's the most refreshing dose of common sense you've ever read, and the ideas, if they resonate with you, do so not because it's new material that you're being exposed to in your life, but rather reinforcements to what you always suspected about the way the world might work due to human nature and incentives. This is the best book ever written, and the mind of the author is rare and beautiful. The book is not dry in the least but sopping with detail, examples, and philosophy presented in the most elegant and eloquent way.

I read reproduction unedited reprint of 1934 original edition.Reprinted in 1994.That is what everybody should read. Well written. Original data on companies before 1934 and during and before 1929 collapse and deoression. Benjamin Graham is genius. Other publications are edited, data is from modern times, so it is fake not original. I recommend original reprint it makes more sense. I read the intelligent investor, edited in 1980s it is good but not as real as originsl 1949 publication. Conclusion find original 1934 reprint, printed in 1994 60th anniversary. Book is well written, hard to believe that nothing has changed, analysis wise since 1934. Feels like he written it in modern time. Love it, very concise and educational.

About the author

Benjamin Graham was a seminal figure on Wall Street and is widely acknowledged to be the father of modern security analysis. The founder of the value school of investing and founder and former president of the Graham-Newman corporation investment fund, Graham taught at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business from 1928 through 1957. He popularized the examination of price-to-earnings (P/E) ratios, debt-to-equity ratios, dividend records, book values, and earnings growth, and also wrote the popular investors' guide The Intelligent Investor.

David Dodd was a colleague of Benjamin Graham's at Columbia University, where he was an assistant professor of finance.
