Il s'agit au contraire pour Schopenhauer de dégager ce qu'il y a d'essentiel dans la philosophie critique, d'approfondir un kantisme méconnu, trahi par les philosophes qui se sont présentés abusivement comme les héritiers de Kant (Fichte, Schelling, Hegel). La question que pose ici Schopenhauer est: comment pouvons-nous encore faire de la philosophie après Kant, sans retomber dans le vieux dogmatique biblique mal caché dans les brumes dialectiques?
