I libri sono sempre stati molto presenti nella vita di Annie Barrows: quando ancora andava a scuola ha lavorato in una biblioteca, ha studiato letteratura inglese all'università e poi è diventata editor. Ha cominciato a scrivere libri per bambini dopo la nascita delle sue due figlie e si è ispirata proprio a loro per creare i personaggi di Ely e Bea.
Sophie Blackall è australiana, ma vive ormai stabilmente a Brooklyn. Le sue illustrazioni hanno vinto diversi premi e sono apparse anche su vari giornali, tra cui il "New York Times".
