About this ebook

'I squeezed through the narrow gap and out into the hallway and I stood for a moment, unable to decide where to go. Should I make a dash for the kitchen, where my mother would be swigging from a bottle? Or should I run upstairs and try to find somewhere to hide? It was a choice I didn't really need to make, because there was no escape'

Anna Lowe grows up on the doorsteps of pubs, waiting for her mum to come out. Having to give up her bedroom to her mother's drunken friends. And regularly calling out the ambulance, after finding her mother unconscious and covered in vomit.

But it is when they move in with her mother's boyfriend Carl that things take the ugliest turn. Not only is he violent with her mother, but he also sexually abuses Anna from the age of six - destroying any semblance of normal childhood she had left.

Wake Up, Mummy is the heartbreaking true story of a little girl who eventually found the courage to break free from the past.

It was hard to continue reading, at times. There was so much dis-function, with the adults mentioned, it was hard for me to blame and or point a finger to any one, specifically, because of the initial problem with the two young kids (adults) have sex, and of course the older generation / old school adults will say ~ you have sex, you get married. Nuff' said. Repercussions were not thought of, so generation after generation, continued to repeat the same horrific abuse issues, they had been dealt. Poor little Anna, as a child, with no one to turn to, no where to go, was such a wreck when she reached adulthood, the vicious cycle continued, with all of the bad relationships she had. Just because a man showed her the slightest amount of attention, she was estatic. Soon afetr she had him moving in with her, even though she know how destructive it was. It was the only attention she felt she deserved, so it continued for another brief time, and she continued to be with child after child. With these things being said, her abusive, horrific childhood, made her so much better as a mother to her own children, leaves the reader thinking how precious the tender little guys (they had been blessed with) really DO NEED AFFECTION during their growth years. When we see things that we don't like, we should make every possible attempt to correct the situation before you or anyone else has been harmed. AGAIN, I WILL SAY:: these are my thoughts and opinions based on what I felt from reading. I hope this helps you in making your decision, and at least, read it and make your own choices.
