The only thing this book achieved is lowering my opinion of the person who recommended it. The book is full of spurious logic and self-aggrandisement. Beware anyone who says not to listen to experts. Taking a complex issue and offering a vague one-size-fits-all answer is why self-help books have a bad reputation. The author assumes everyone has the same thoughts, motivations, and experiences he does. This is a closed minded approach coming from someone who repeatedly instructs his readers to open their minds and concludes by saying if you don't agree with him, reread until you do. If this book works for you, wonderful. But as someone who stopped drinking several months ago and hoped to just have my decision reinforced, I ended up wanting to drink again just to spite the author.

It works. I used Allen Carr's "Easy Way To Quit Smoking" and have been smoke free for 5 years now so I felt dumb when I didn't think of turning to his books for my alcohol addiction. Once again I quit my habit before finishing the book. I highly suggest reading the entire book to the end even if you do quit before you finish. I now feel better than ever, losing weight and sleeping better. I have no cravings and it doesn't bother me to be around other drinkers. I'm so glad I am now free from this along with cigarettes.

Mr. Carr answered every fear I had about not drinking and turned it into a convincing reason to stop. After my last drink, I literally cried and thanked him out loud for giving me my life back.
