Ratings and reviews

I'm intrigued, and honestly, it's because of the last sentence of the book. This was a different take in the vampire/human dynamics, and I like the Beauty and the Beast like feel to the story. There wasn't an ounce of sex but the tension was leaping off the pages. I've never read Winters before, but I was pleased and will be back for more.

My only problem with this book is that it’s part of a series and now I want to read all the other books and I don’t have the time to. This is a terrific slow burn romance between a male vampire and a human woman who hates vampires because one killed her mother. The back and forth between these two characters is great to read. They definitely should hate each other but they can’t help being interested. This can be a tricky thing to write without it getting boring and repetitive but Ali Winters does a terrific job keeping things going and interesting. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved this book. It's a fresh take on vampires in a fantasy world that has this really great dark gothic feel to it. The romance is great and steamy and I can't wait to see how it develops between the two. This is definitely a beauty and the beast retelling, but in a different way than I've seen before. It left me wondering which of the two main characters was really supposed to be the beast. It's a great mashup, with some definite changes. This book is really underrated and I highly recommend it. My book club and I read this book last month, and I didn't hesitate to grab book two. So excited to see where this series goes!
