About this ebook

Miss Politt has been waiting and waiting outside Laburnum Cottage for Mrs. Spenlow, to no avail. She nervously acquires the help of her next-door neighbor, whose gumption and persistence reveal that Mrs. Spenlow is dead on the hearthrug. The whole of St. Mary Mead is convinced the murderer is Mr. Spenlow, who shows no emotion upon his wife’s sudden death, but, with characteristic diligence, Miss Marple reveals that it is perhaps not that simple.

This is a short story, probably meant for a magazine or newspaper. My main problem with it was that at times it was difficult to follow along with the multiple long conversations. I feel bad giving Agatha Christie a low rating... but

The story was a good read, though some parts seamed to skip something from one character to the next in a couple of spots. Or maybe the interpretation was lost by me. But predictable was the murderer.

The length of this short story is listed at 100 pages; very misleading as it runs about 20 something. However, that being said, it was worth its small stipend. A gifted writer in all her works. Enjoy.
