About this audiobook

Now a major motion picture starring Max Pelayo, Reese Gonzales, and Eva Longoria!
A Time Best YA Book of All Time (2021)

Dive into the award-winning, internationally renowned book that is a “tender, honest exploration of identity” (Publishers Weekly) and distills lyrical truths about family and friendship—featuring images from the film!

Aristotle is an angry teen with a brother in prison. Dante is a know-it-all who has an unusual way of looking at the world. When the two meet at the swimming pool, they seem to have nothing in common. But as the loners start spending time together, they discover that they share a special friendship—the kind that changes lives and lasts a lifetime. And it is through this friendship that Ari and Dante will learn the most important truths about themselves and the kind of people they want to be.

So I actually saw the movie they made first and then wanted to experience the book. I love both. The book is expertly voiced by Lin Manuel Miranda. Aristotle and Dante are beautiful characters. Both complicated and simple. And the parents of both are amazing. We should all be so lucky to have parents like that. I love anything about this and highly recommend it.

The book itself is an absolute wonder with the way SĂ enz manages to capture the harsh realities of Ari and Dante's world while also somehow showing the beauty that is stull around whilst they are in pain. The way Lin-Manuel Miranda manages to express that with only his voice will forever be with me. This is, without a doubt, my favorite book.
