About this audiobook

Discover magazine recently called Richard Dawkins "Darwin's Rottweiler" for his fierce and effective defense of evolution. Prospect magazine voted him among the top three public intellectuals in the world (along with Umberto Eco and Noam Chomsky). Now Dawkins turns his considerable intellect on religion, denouncing its faulty logic and the suffering it causes. He critiques God in all his forms, from the sex-obsessed tyrant of the Old Testament to the more benign (but still illogical) Celestial Watchmaker favored by some Enlightenment thinkers. He eviscerates the major arguments for religion and demonstrates the supreme improbability of a supreme being. He shows how religion fuels war, foments bigotry, and abuses children, buttressing his points with historical and contemporary evidence. In so doing, he makes a compelling case that belief in God is not just irrational, but potentially deadly. Dawkins has fashioned an impassioned, rigorous rebuttal to religion, to be embraced by anyone who sputters at the inconsistencies and cruelties that riddle the Bible, bristles at the inanity of "intelligent design," or agonizes over fundamentalism in the Middle East-or Middle America.

It's a fantastic read. Very eye opening, I highly recommend it to all. The audio can be frustrating at times with Richards voice being quite whereas hers being so loud, though I mainly listened to the book in my car so it was easy to adjust my volume as needed. My only complaint is that the book isnt as long as it appears. It ends at chapter 166. After that, it seems to just start at a previous chapter. Anyway, I hope some find this helpful. 🤪

The contents of the book are amazing. Eye opening and life changing. Bought the paperback and loved it. Now I wanted to hear this while commuting to work and back. So good. The recording quality however is not as interresting. Generally low volume compared to other audiobooks. Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the big volume differences between Richard's voice, very low, and Lalla who's considerably louder. If you adjust the volume for her narration, you can barely hear his. The other way around blows you eardrums when it's her turn to speak. It's so bad sometimes I just stop the playback.

If you enjoy people who think their farts are actually profound and prophetic (ironically), beyond-belief, type non-sense. Here's the book for you! Sure would hate to have to defend a position that everything came from nothing or the MOST POPULAR atheist's explanation and the basis of the new Star Trek Animated Series: Infinite Universes with still no explanation of where they came from
