About this audiobook

In the blink of an eye, everyone disappears. Gone. Except for the young. There are teens, but not one single adult. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened. Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents-unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers-that grow stronger by the day. It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: on your birthday, you disappear just like everyone else . . . Michael Grant's Gone has been praised for its compelling storytelling, multidimensional characters, and multiple points of view.

Even if you prefer audio recordings, choose the written version and let the robot voice read aloud. The book is good. The narrator has unfortunate habits when speaking. The biggest one is, "Sam SAYHED? *deep breath*". Upward connotation at the word 'said' making it a question and it's probably 30 decibels louder than the words directly before or after he tells you someone said something. It makes me cringe and debate on throwing my phone to make it stop. Again, good book, poor execution from narration. The comparison of Sheldon Cooper with sinusitis with volume control problems comes to mind.

The book is amazing. I own the paperback copies and some of the ebooks. The reason for the low rating is due to the voice of the narrator. He sounds like a robotic Sheldon and for some of the characters the voice doesn't emotion to the voice doesn't fit what's going on. Edit: Came back to try to listen again. I recommend speeding the book up to 1.25 or 1.5. that will greatly help with how the narrator sounds

šŸ˜¤completely ruined by the narrator. if Sheldon Cooper and the sound of nails on a chalkboard had a baby..... that baby would be narrating the book. couldn't even finish chapter 1 šŸ˜¤
