About this audiobook

With her social life and writing career in tatters at the ripe old age of thirty-five, Sunni Taylor decides to pack up her things and join her sisters, Lana and Emily, in the small town of Firefly Junction. Hoping to open a bed and breakfast, Sunni sets herself the task of refurbishing the rundown Cider Ridge Inn, a two-hundred-year-old house with a sordid past. In the meantime, she's stuck writing dull human interest stories for the Junction Times. But when Sunni decides to bend the rules on her first newspaper assignment, she soon finds herself in her favorite place-right in the center of a murder investigation. Now if she can just steer clear of the cocky, irritating and far too appealing local detective, Brady "Jax" Jackson. It isn't long before Sunni discovers that avoiding Jax is a piece of cake compared to staying clear of the equally cocky, irritating and far too appealing two-hundred-year-old ghost haunting the halls of the Cider Ridge Inn.

AudioBook Review: Stars: Overall 3 Narration 2 Story 4 Small towns, family and a ghost with a sense of humor all converge to tell this lovely little escape cozy from London Lovett. Moving to Firefly Junction to be closer to her sisters, Sunni plans to open a B & B in an old mansion that people in town think is haunted. Not believing that for a moment, and using her sisters Lana and Emily to help with the volumes of work involved, she’s also ‘part-timing’ her writing, having taken on an assignment to interview the newly retiring school custodian. When you add in the mix of intrigue from the ‘haunted’ house the sisters are refurbishing, and the fact that both Emily and Lana not only believe in the ghost but are all in for scheduling a séance – Sunni becomes the voice of reason in the story – even when reason (and gossip) are in short supply. But, when her scheduled interview is derailed by the murder of the custodian, and her ‘replacement assignment’ has her radar seeing clues and leaving a niggling feeling that things are just ‘not right’ – the twists, turns and one detective keep spinning about on the wheel that is Sunni’s detecting style as she digs through twists, turns and a ghost who is occasionally popping in – Sunni has plenty to deal with and all in an engaging and hard to put down story. Narrated by Tiffany Morgan, the characters of Sunni and her sisters, as well as the occasional input from other townspeople was clearly presented and easy to follow along – ONCE I got used to her rather unique delivery style and pace. A bit slow with a cadence that fit a story hour more than a narration, the care taken in delivering the words as written seemed to interfere with the flow and pacing. I wouldn’t grab this for the narrator – but I found the story unique and while character laden, it did hold my interest throughout. I received an AudioBook copy of the title from Tantor Audio for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
