About this audiobook

From the New York Times bestselling authors of Welcome to Night Vale and It Devours! and the creators of the hit podcast, comes a new novel set in the world of Night Vale and beyond.

In the town of Night Vale, thereā€™s a faceless old woman who secretly lives in everyoneā€™s home, but no one knows how she got there or where she came from...until now. Told in a series of eerie flashbacks, the story of The Faceless Old Woman goes back centuries to reveal an initially blissful and then tragic childhood on a Mediterranean Estate in the earlyĀ nineteenth century, her rise in the criminal underworld of Europe, a nautical adventure with a mysterious organization of smugglers, her plot for revenge on the ones who betrayed her, and ultimately her death and its aftermath, as her spirit travels the world for decadesĀ until settling in modern-day Night Vale.

Interspersed throughout is a present-day story in Night Vale, as The Faceless Old Woman guides, haunts, and sabotages a man named Craig. In the end, her current day dealings with Craig and her swashbuckling history inĀ nineteenth century Europe will come together in the most unexpected and horrifying way.

PartĀ The Haunting of Hill House, partĀ The Count of Monte Cristo, and 100% about a faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home.

This is a very fleshed out story about a personal favorite character of mine from Welcome to Nightvale. While this book certainly doesn't require knowledge of the podcast, that knowledge can enhance your experience a great deal. The narration on this audiobook is fantastic.

wow the origin story of the faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home. This story was a blast. It blew my mind. Action, Adventure, Romance, Drama, tragedy, horror & revenge. It has it all. If you love WTNV this is a must read & or listen to the AudioBook. The audio book is the best, just as awesome as the podcast only on another level. Enjoy :-)

A great read, the back story of a side character in a monthly podcast. Turns a likable yet extremely creepy character into a horrible child murdering lunatic. This book has not only wavered my love for the associated podcast but made me truly hate the title character.
