I've read almost all of John Douglas's books and I will say that this is certainly different than some of his other work. Like with his book on BTK, it focuses on only one specific killer and his crimes. It was insightful and had a powerful message about hate crimes going on today. I will say that it dragged for me in the middle when it got to the various trials of Franklin. It reminded me a lot of the "The Stranger Beside Me" by Ann Rule during that section - in that it went through the technicalities of sentencings and who gets dibs when a killer has killed in so many states. I don't find that kind of stuff very interesting, but I'm sure there are people out there that do. Good narrator for the audio version.
