About this audiobook

The final novel in the First Law Trilogy by New York Times bestseller Joe Abercrombie.

Logen Ninefingers might only have one more fight in him -- but it's going to be a big one. Battle rages across the North, the king of the Northmen still stands firm, and there's only one man who can stop him. His oldest friend, and his oldest enemy: it's time for the Bloody-Nine to come home.

With too many masters and too little time, Superior Glokta is fighting a different kind of war. A secret struggle in which no one is safe, and no one can be trusted. As his days with a sword are far behind him, it's fortunate that he's deadly with his remaining weapons: blackmail, threats, and torture.

Jezal dan Luthar has decided that winning glory is too painful an undertaking and turned his back on soldiering for a simple life with the woman he loves. But love can be painful too -- and glory has a nasty habit of creeping up on a man when he least expects it.

The king of the Union lies on his deathbed, the peasants revolt, and the nobles scramble to steal his crown. No one believes that the shadow of war is about to fall across the heart of the Union. Only the First of the Magi can save the world, but there are risks. There is no risk more terrible, than to break the First Law. . .

honestly this is a very interesting trilogy. the first two book ends with no resolution because there would be a next book but this final book ends with nothing really resolved either. it is a good series all things considered. great world building, consistency with the characters, and good description and understanding of medieval warfare. but, know that the story ends with the villains basically winning and the protagonists stories all unresolved. quite frustrating but at the same time "no one gets what they deserve" is a sentence repeated multiple times in this trilogy.

this series was amazing...awesome plot, characters were like family to me that's howmuch the writer made you care...then the FINAL book of the series(this one) ends with NOTHING RESOLVED!!! Did Joe lose his words? Did he forget about writing the final book after this one? A fourth book is totally needed to resolve everything! i know Logan is back to where he started in book 1 but that isn't good enough to call it finished! it's not cool or hip...it's not creative or deep...the ending is a JIP! it is not my talent to use my imagination to come up with an ending...that's what you get paid for! as you can see I'm very upset. BOOOO! 👎

Steven Pacey's narration is in a league of its own. Pairing it with the clever and brutal storytelling of Abercrombie makes this a great listen. Just finished it for the 4th time.
