About this audiobook

One secret could bring down the government when the President's memorable affair becomes a nightmare he longs to forget in this page-turner from James Patterson that will keep you up reading all night long.
Sally Grissom is a top Secret Service agent in charge of the Presidential Protection team. She knows that something is amiss when she's summoned to a private meeting with the President and his Chief of Staff without any witnesses. But she couldn't have predicted that she'd be forced to take on an investigation surrounding the mysterious disappearance of the First Lady -- with strict orders to keep it a secret.
The First Lady's absence comes in the wake of the scandalous, public revelation of the president's affair, so at first it seems as though she is simply cutting off all contact as she recuperates at a horse farm in Virginia. What begins as an innocent respite quickly turns into a twisted case when the White House receives a ransom note along with the First Lady's finger.

4 stars for the book - 0 stars narration. Decent book; HORRIBLE narration by Deborah McBride. This book is narrated by a woman who pronounces the Potomac as "Pah-ta-mack" and Brusque as "broosk" and Cordial as "cordee-al" and Pasta in a way that I've never heard before - instead of saying the the a as in ah, she sais a as in past. Completely distracted from the story as I kept waiting to see what else she would butcher. Also, she had no inflection, raced through parts of the book as if she was in a hurry and couldn't wait for it to be over. You know what Deborah, neither could I. I will never listen to an audiobook from Deborah McBride again. Ever. Whoever listened to this before it was published and gave it a thumbs up should be fired.

Why didn't anyone at Hachette Audio listen to Deborah McBride's bumbling, mispronounciations of this book. I know the company could afford it. I totally agree with Joy Wright's review. McBride's narration distracted from the story. Not only did she mispronounce Potomac twice, she also pronounced Maryland as Mary-land and brusque as broosk. Really sad.

FOR SHAME!!!!! I'm a huge Patterson fan and he's extremely well read..... by millions. why oh why would anyone hire an idiot for a narrator who can't pronounce simple words, words meaningful to any US citizen. such as the POTOMAC River and corral not coral and arapaho. JEEZ these are common words anyone who has gone thru third grade history class should know. this book centered around the president and first lady, brings this issue even more to the forefront, i can't listen to another word.
