This is the first time I've actually gone into Norse myths (I've generally enjoyed Greek mythology more). I would totally recommend this -an easy read made up of different stories so it's relatively easy to put down and continue, not that you'd want to once you start this.

Fantastically researched, this book provides great context into the worldview of the Norse. The stories are not as engaging as others have them in the telling but do well enough to get the bones from which you can make your own broth.

These stories capture the riddle of our species. That riddle is completely entangled in our ability to engage in reflective thought and self reference and when coupled with our ability to share our most convoluted thought patterns with each other what emerges is our sense of self and species
