About this audiobook

Why do we need research to ensure that artificial intelligence remains safe and beneficial? What are the benefits and risks of artificial intelligence?

From Siri to self-driving cars, artificial intelligence (AI) is progressing rapidly. While science fiction often portrays AI as robots with humanlike characteristics, AI can encompass anything from Google’s search algorithms to IBM’s Watson to autonomous weapons.

Artificial intelligence today is properly known as narrow AI, in that it is designed to perform a narrow task (e.g. only facial recognition, only Internet searches, or only driving a car). However, the long-term goal of many researchers is to create general AI (AGI or strong AI). While narrow AI may outperform humans at whatever its specific task is, like playing chess or solving equations, AGI would outperform humans at nearly every cognitive task.

Here is a preview of what you'll hear:

  • Understanding artificial intelligence
  • Artificial intelligence at work
  • Benefits of artificial intelligence
  • How AI changes our lives
  • AI and saving lives
  • What the future looks like
  • And much, much more!

This book is worth reading or hearing if you don't know anything at all about AI. I don't like to say bad things about people's efforts but this book isn't too insightful. It will give the reader or listener a decent overview of AI but the future concepts are very tech 1.0 Reminds me of the 70's semi conductors are coming home & office predictions. Flexi time. The world will be a better place. Humans will have free time to do as they wish. This is planet Earth. AI as tech is double edged and far more advanced than anything this book covers. Nonetheless, this book will inform and introduce the lay person to an understanding of AI

I’m blown away by how good this book is (both in content and style). It describes Deep Learning in a simple, informed and objective way. You learn how face recognition works, how DeepMind conquered Go and how Google Translate translates. Furthermore, the book itself is very pretty and contains many informative things. It starts with the basics and quickly expands to cover a broad landscape of the current status of AI, all aspects are described with the right technical depth and are easy to understand. I highly recommend this book!

Fascinated hearing this audiobook, It made me sometimes i realize that i need a new perspective on technology. thinking about what the future will hold for humanity, My main sources of information about science or technology are art exhibitions, social media channels run by activists and books by social scientists or philosophers. I decided to expand my horizons and check out what an engineer has to say about technology. In particular artificial intelligence. but the key to the future of AI is still in the hands of us humans, very good audiobook this is.
