About this audiobook

NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

There's a good story in here somewhere, but I find it particularly challenging to keep up with the time-jumping that the narrative goes through. Yes, the story is an icon of sci-fi, but it's just so hard to recommend the book when the films are so much more coherent.

Ok first off ppl don't dis on my favorite author him his son and one other have made the best books ever for Dune. There is also a pre-qual the the Dune series with Frank's notes his son Brain and Kevin Anderson they have done justice to his father/mentor. There are many Dune fans me being one of them have read all the books but 2 and that's because I haven't the money to buy them yet. And let me tell you there awesome and tell you more about what lead up to Dune. So please be respectful .

I loved the book. I just wish I didn't miss key parts because it would get garbled and distorted at times. I thought this may have been my internet connection but no matter when I went back to those parts they were always distorted. Couple with the reading of the book suddenly stopping for no reason. Suffice to say unless it were free I would not purchase another audio book due to the poor quality of the play back and not due to the books excellent content.
