A brilliantly clear exposition of this key Foucauldian concept, which informs so much of contemporary social and political theory. Szczelkun draws on key texts and frames his description in the counter-cultural struggles of the 1960s, which were so highly influential for Foucault. There isn't really a flaw in Szczelkun's excellent account, but if given more space I would like to have seen him explore the close connections between Foucault's concept of discourse and his concept of biopower.
