Ratings and reviews

I really did not like that the emotionaly abusive behavior was not considered abusive at any point by Lilly. Maybe that wasn't the authors intention, but I would have liked to see some reflection by her on how his early behaviors were also red flags. The begging for sex, stalking, telling her what to do, making decisions without her consent, telling her rather than asking if she wants to be his girlfriend, the love bombing, the speed of the relationship, moving in without discussing it. All of this is emotionaly abuse and it seems like a missed opportunity to not have Lilly later reflect on those things. I'm not sure if the author is expecting people to read between the lines or if she's unaware that these things are abuse. But at the same time, not every story needs to be a clear lesson to be good. This book was a cautionary tale, so it did feel like it was missing some of the lesson.

This book is incredibly over hyped. It is flat and bland. The characters have no richness or complexity. The sentence structure is repetitive and unimaginative. I hated reading this book and I hate that I spend money on it. I also hate that this is the picture painted for us about an abusive relationship.

I have mixed feelings about the book on one hand i feel like the domestic violence side of the story was really good but I feel like Atlas was just thrown in as a backup love story. The focus was mainly on how lily felt with Rylan and her feelings towards him, while in the background was the backstory with Atlas but not much on their true connection. I felt allot of Anger towards Lily almost blaming Atlas for her ending up with Rylan because if she loved Atlas so much she could of made the effort to look for him too. Overall I think it's a well told story.
