Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but, for different reasons, they’re both looking to make a new friend on their End Day. The good news: There’s an app for that. It’s called the Last Friend, and through it, Rufus and Mateo are about to meet up for one last great adventure—to live a lifetime in a single day.

Loved this book, I spent around a week reading it and boy did I CRY! The author does a great job of building the characters, I saw others think the opposite but at the end of the day this books time frame occurs in 24 hours. Would definitely recommend.

In an attempted to piggy back on the success of morbid young adult novels like "The Fault in our Stars" and "Me, Early and the Dying Girl", "They Both Die at the End" comes off as trite and trying too hard. The writer fails to establish any form of connection between the reader and the characters, which is essential if we're supposed to care at all that the kids are going to die in the end. While John Green manages to tell us the characters are dying while still making us mourn the poor kids when they do, Silvera couldn't write anything that might evoke the slightest amount of feeling, mostly because the characters are lacking in depth almost as badly as the dialogue is lacking in wit.
