About this game

Critical Mass is a game set in the future, where you are the commander of a squadron of spaceships. You will be sent on one of 46 different types of mission, ranging from protecting a convoy, to attacking an enemy starbase, to defending Earth.

You fight enemy spaceships using six different types of missiles which home in on the nearest target, so you have to be careful not to destroy your own friends. Defend yourself with forcefields, or cloak to go invisible, and hyperspace out of there if things aren't looking good.

The game is turn based, but with missiles homing in on your tail, enemy ships weaving to get out of your line of sight and sirens screaming warnings at you it can get pretty frantic!

After the mission you can replay the entire battle from the point of view of your or any of your squadron members' spaceships.

Edit. After some time, the game has become so laggy it is unplayable. Fix plea Amazing old 90s computer game! I played this as a kid. Loved it. Really worth the money. It works, a little laggy sometimes, not sure why. A quick force close and it seems to catch up without losing game progress. The designer keeps up on updates with slay, so I imagine this will be fixed. It's distracting, not game ruining. If you ever get the chance, Mr. O'Connor, would you please make Rats work on Android? Thanks!

I've been playing on and off for 20 years and the gameplay is still strong. A great turn based game for both long and short sessions, so far the game handles being put in the background and shutting off the phone screen well, putting you right back where you left upon starting up again (a feature some big budget games can't even get right) Definitely worth the price of admission for turn based strategy fans.

Fun, and nostalgic as I played this game over 20 years ago too. Addictive simple singleplayer. Missing sounds options (maybe I want to listen to music while playing). Sometime I forget what the objective really is for the combat I just resumed. When I die it is hard to see which of the highscore entries is the latest. I love that I can open it, play x minute, and whenever put the game back down again. Love it, still.
