Just started the game and its great, It's what I've been looking for! I wanted a game that had no in app purchase garbage. I also wanted something I could play anywhere and on my own time frame. Some games you almost have to be constantly logged in to get rewards or to compete in events. This becomes a waste of time for me, feels like a choir, and gets tiring. For the price of a cup of coffee I get to enjoy this little story with some strategy, character building and fun. The retro feel is nice!

Game really feels rough and lacking in polish. There is no tutorial, tool tips, or basic information of what does what; expect to be doing a lot of trial and error to figure out what you need to do and such. Game feels heavily influenced by luck rather then strategy (partly due to lack of information, but also due to high randomness in actions of your units and the enemies). Second Stage was also poorly crafted with one of its triggers being highly exploitable. Having the ability to visit stores and such during stages sometimes didn't really make sense; sometimes story felt disjointed. Overall not a bad game for a first title and has core concepts worked out well enough but likely don't visit this game unless you liked the sequels that much.

It seems like other SRPGs I've played before and like. It seems like it might have a decent game play and storyline. However, I have had to play the first level over three or four times because I didn't know how things work. There is no tutorial for anything, even if your units die (yes, they are permadead).
