About this game

Meet Mina the Owl who will escort your child through the Land of Dreams on a journey to the hospital or clinic for anesthesia or other medical procedures. On this journey, your child will be helped to prepare for this new experience while playing a fun game. The player will learn a few tricks and exercises that will help him or her cope with fear and anxiety as well as being introduced to the hospital environment through realistic and educational videos.
Mina the Owl is a friendly narrator who explains and guides the child on its journey. Set in nature-inspired by Iceland combined with realistic videos from the hospital setting, this beautiful game boasts colorful illustrations, music, and animation, plus a set of characters you can choose from.
The game is available in three languages: English, Finnish and Icelandic. Its nine levels offer great interactivity, a courage meter, and a selection of trophies at the end making this a lively and rewarding game for any child. It will take around 30 minutes to complete.
The game is intended for children aged 3 – 7, but older players might also enjoy it and learn from using it. It is suitable for players with developmental disabilities as well.
Whether preparing for anesthesia at the dentist, in a hospital or clinic, for examination, other medical procedures, or surgery, this game will educate and help prepare children. Parents can also use it as a discussion tool. Mina and the Land of Dreams is developed in collaboration with preschool children and an interdisciplinary team of nurses, researchers, psychologists, playschool teachers, and computer scientists in Iceland and Finland.
