About this ebook

“[Kurt Vonnegut’s] best book . . . He dares not only ask the ultimate question about the meaning of life, but to answer it.”—Esquire

Nominated as one of America’s best-loved novels by PBS’s The Great American Read

The Sirens of Titan
is an outrageous romp through space, time, and morality. The richest, most depraved man on Earth, Malachi Constant, is offered a chance to take a space journey to distant worlds with a beautiful woman at his side. Of course there’ s a catch to the invitation–and a prophetic vision about the purpose of human life that only Vonnegut has the courage to tell.

“Reading Vonnegut is addictive!”—Commonweal

My favorite book for over 30 years now. This book will make you laugh and think. You've never read anything like this. A story that makes you question everything, which I think is awesome. It's sci fi it's philosophy it's dark black comedy it's Vonnegut. Travel across the universe and time and into the human mind...

This is somehow a critical examination of human nature and also a comedy. For every ridiculous situation, for every caricature of a character, Vonnegut brings the reader back to earth, back to humanity, and lets you see exactly how similar it is to how close it is to what we consider normal, anyway. This book can make you laugh, cry, and scream out in frustration, and I hope it changes how you view the world when you're done.

This book is by and far one of the most depressing, obscene, and crude books in the world. But if it wasn't, how else could it show how truthful it is. Though it may be a fiction book, it may as well be truth as the themes, lessons, and rawness of it take you right where Kurt intended. Not for kids, or for the faint of heart, but if you're looking for reality and introspection, this is it.

About the author

Kurt Vonnegut’s humor, satiric voice, and incomparable imagination first captured America’s attention in The Sirens of Titan in 1959 and established him as “a true artist” (The New York Times) with Cat’s Cradle in 1963. He was, as Graham Greene declared, “one of the best living American writers.” Mr. Vonnegut passed away in April 2007.
